She eyes me like a Pisces when I am weak
I’ve been locked inside your heart-shaped box for weeks
I’ve been drawn into your magnet tar pit trap
I wish I could eat your cancer when you turn black

Dark Shadows by Tim Burton (not really a movie review)

Sooo, yesterday I went with a friend (a Burton fanatic, I might say!) to the movies to watch Dark Shadows. There’s been a lot of buzz about this one, because it’s a remake and, well, because it’s TIM BURTON. I must say, I don’t care about all the negativity around the director and his work. I kind of admire Tim Burton. He is a bizarre creature with a mind bursting with extravagant ideas, characters and scenarios that he ultimately immortalizes on paper or on film. He is a peculiar man that worked hard and even established a film genre for himself. I mean, when watching a Burton movie we really feel tempted to classify it as “Tim Burtonesque”, is it not?
Filmmaking is an act of violence. It’s about penetrating emotion into an audience and let it sit with them, for as long as they can. And then they travel with it for the rest of their lives. It’s like sex, you don’t really know what happens until the end but it feels great.

I always wondered what it takes
fifteen stitches and a soft parody
to make my eyes be like deceit
believe the sting, proves heart to me
now i know that you love me
thank god that you love at all

You MUST follow this food blog, even more if you consider yourself a sweet tooth. The photos are amazingly shot, the recipes accessible and I consider the author Linda Lomelino a genious. There is also a recipe for Guinness beer cake, imagine that!

My godfather gave me some old school books that belonged to my father. Being passionate for this kind of treasure, I immediately accepted it.
They are school books from when Portugal was under a dictatorship, where everything was censored. So I thought they would be pretty limited. But I was surprised by how enjoyable they were to read - I mean, if you can pass the nationalist exaggeration.
